  [القاهرة] طور باحث مصري مجموعة كشف ’عتاد‘، تساعد المزارعين في تحديد جنس أشجار النخيل خلال الأيام الأولى من عمر النبتة، وستُطرح قريبًا في السوق العربية. كان محيي الدين سليمان -أستاذ قسم التقنية الحيوية المساعد، بكلية العلوم الزراعية والأغذية، جامعة الملك فيصل بالسعودية- قد نجح في عزل وتوصيف الجين المسؤول عن تحديد الجنس في نخيل التمر وغيره من النباتات لأول مرة، وحصد عن هذا الإنجاز جائزة خليفة الدولية لنخيل التمر والابتكار الزراعي عن فئة أفضل تقنية متميزة لعام 2015. وخلال  محاضرة علمية  افتراضية نَظَّمَتها الأمانة العامة للجائزة يوم 13 سبتمبر الجاري، أعلن سليمان نجاحه وفريقه البحثي في تطوير مجموعة كشف جديدة لتحديد جنس النخيل وغيره من النباتات في مراحلها المبكرة من الإنبات. يتلخص الابتكار في اكتشاف سليمان للجين المسؤول عن تحديد ذكر نخيل التمر، الذي يحدد جنس السلالة، ويرمز له بالرمز ’إس آر واي‘، وتمكن من عزله وتوصيفه بدقة كبيرة. يوضح سليمان أنه بخلاف البشر؛ إذ لديهم نظام كروموسومات (XY) الشهير لتحديد الجنس، ويمكن التفريق بينهما بسهولة لاختلاف أحجامهما، فإن كروموسومات ال...
